How to Change your V8 Spray Gun Air Cap, Step-By-Step

Air caps are not a one size fits all piece of equipment. The right air cap allows you to spray the finish you need for each project you work on. That’s why it is important to know how to change your air cap and be prepared to lay down the perfect finish, every time.

The Fuji Spray V8 spray gun offers a wide variety of air cap sets ranging from 1.2mm to 2.2mm. Which allows you to effectively atomize any coating imaginable. With all of these sizes available to you, it’s almost certain you’ll be changing out your air cap set.

Air Cap Removal

Step 1. Remove the fluid control and needle spring.

Step 2. Engage the trigger and remove the needle.

Step 3. Loosen the air cap collar and remove the air cap.

Step 4. Using the #12 cut-out on the wrench that came with your spray gun, remove the fluid nozzle.

Upon removing the fluid nozzle, you will expose the air distributor. A quick note, be sure to install this component so that the locating pin indexes the locating hole on the spray gun body. Failure to do so can negatively affect the spray gun pattern and can potentially damage the spray gun.

Air Cap Installation

Step 1. To start the installation of your new air cap set, thread in the fluid nozzle by hand and secure with your wrench.

Step 2. Install the air cap and secure the collar.

Step 3. Install your needle, needle spring, and fluid control.

There you have it. You’ve now successfully changed the air cap set on your V8 compressor spray gun.
